Issue: I am unable to install software I need on my Managed or Pay-As-You-Go server: I am prompted for an administrator login.
Solution: If you have a Managed or Pay-As-You-Go subscription, you are able to install Self-Contained Software and most App Store Applications that do not require administrative permission on a Managed or Pay-As-You-Go subscription (See below).
For applications that are not available in the App Store or are Self-Contained, please submit an installation request to our Support Staff. Please be sure to download the software you wish to have installed and place it in your “Downloads” folder before requesting an installation.
Please note that the Dedicated Server plan provides users with admin/sudo/root access. Note that if you wish to install software without any assistance you will need a Dedicated Server plan which provides users with full administrative access.
A. Installing Self-Contained Software (Such as Corona SDK)
i. After downloading, simply open the file, and then drag the self-contained folder onto your desktop (Instead of dragging into the Applications folder). It will now run as if it were placed in the Applications folder and not require you to contact support.
B. Installing App Store Applications (Such as Evernote)
i. Open the “Finder” application and click on the “Applications” tab.
ii. Click on the “App Store” application and find the application you wish to install.
iii. Click "Get" on the app you wish to install and then "Install App". Note that you will be prompted for your personal Apple ID login which is different from your login credentials.
C. For other applications that are not available in the App Store or Self-Contained, please submit an installation request to our Support Staff.
